In early 2020, news broke out from Major League Baseball that its ongoing, PlayStation exclusive series MLB The Show will be breaking its unique ties to Sony’s console. However, the organization goes to clarify its partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment has been extended in agreement to offer a multiplatform release after its 2020 installment last year.
But upon entering 2021, the possibility of seeing MLB The Show on other systems did look to be slim early on. In a finding from Gematsu, MLB The Show 21 was rated in Brazil – for PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5. No sign of Xbox, PC, or Switch. Granted, a MLB The Show game is told to hit different hardware sometime after 2020, but it is not said when exactly that will arrive.
But now in a new finding from Instagram user anerdydad, the poster revealed the box art for MLB The Show 21. Even more, they also issue what might be the first glimpse at the Xbox version for the game as well.

As for the finer details of the game cover, the cover athlete for MLB The Show 21 is San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. Tatis Jr since his entering Major League Baseball in 2019 has left a large impression on the organization with his performance with the Chicago White Sox as a free agent before being welcomed to the Padres’roster. He also sits currently with a 98 RBI.
Reiterating back to the box art for MLB The Show 21, the most eye opening part returns once again to the Xbox versions. Upon viewing the right corner of the image alongside the SIE San Diego logo, you will find a PlayStation Studios logo as well. So for the game to release on other platforms, Xbox especially, that will take some time getting used to.
Back in May 2020, Sony Interactive Entertainment finally pressed on its first-party label with PlayStation Studios. Alongside the banner found for Xbox Game Studios, PlayStation Studios stands similarly to emphasize on the unique projects for its platform. You can read the full report by heading here.
Do you hope MLB The Show 21 comes to more platforms this year?
