In the past, there has been instances where Splinter Cell would reshine from Ubisoft, but not directly in the way that fans anticipated or truly fancied their interest since the last main installment releasing back in 2013. For one, Elite Squad – a mobile melting pot of Tom Clancy/Ubisoft releases – was revealed previously which does not truly quench the thirst for many patient fans.
Additionally, Ubisoft & Oculus is told to be welcoming a new Splinter Cell title for the Oculus systems in the coming future. With that alongside a Assassin’s Creed VR title as well, the announcement still is not a full-on new entry for the flagship series. However, one report from Multiplayer.it indicated that an announcement for 2021 is due to officially reveal the next game; presumably during E3.
But before this coming Ubisoft Forward taking place on Saturday, Twitter user @Zer0Bytes0 released images for what is a new incubator game dubbed ‘Battlecat’. Fusing Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and The Division, Video Game Chronicles also appears to be corroborating the leak in its report. However, the images provided happened to be removed due to a dispute of the copyright holder AKA Ubisoft.
This is not the only project involving The Division IP. This spring, Ubisoft unveiled The Division Heartland: a free-to-play experience set in the titular universe. Gathered by the title, it is suggested to take place in the Midwest of the United States. The project alongside those that follow will also be branded with the new ‘Ubisoft Originals’ banner that all internal releases will ship with.
For certainty, it is likely with the timing of the leak suggests that Battlecat will be unveiled at Ubisoft Forward this weekend. The presentation already confirmed titles like Rainbow Six Quarantine, Riders Republic, and Far Cry 6 to be present at the showcase. You can read the full report by heading here.
