When it comes to popular toy lines, Nintendo’s Super Mario has become quite the phenomenon in the past year. Back in June of last year, the titular series was expected to receive an exclusive Hot Wheels collection comprised of iconic characters for the suiting Mario Kart subgenre. Now in 2020, fans can expect the brand to break into more tangible toy lines with a deal with Lego for later this summer.
Previously it was teased that fans could expect to learn more on the matters of Lego Super Mario when the official Twitter account shared a glimpse of what to expect in the near future. Following the pre-mature reveal, Nintendo shared a full video of what the Lego set will be exactly with an overview of Mario and what specifically can be done with the unique-looking minifigure.
While the set is officially manufactured by Lego, the look of it itself does resemble closer to the likes of the Duplo range of products aimed towards a younger audience rather than an assumed full-on Lego interpretation. Nonetheless, the set is especially interesting as Mario himself can be powered on and collect coins electronically when placed onto Goombas and makes the respected noise when inserted into pipes.
Now this past week, Lego has released information on the upcoming Super Mario line by sharing that pre-orders for both the Starter Set and other expansion sets that will be available later this year. Listing that the base set will be available for $59.99 alongside the Piranha Plant Power Slide priced at $29.99 and Bowser’s Castle Boss Fight going for $99.99.
Are you planning on scooping up any Super Mario Lego sets later this summer when they arrive?
All listed sets for the Super Mario Line are slated to release on August 1, 2020.
