For the sake of appliance manufacturer LG, the South Korean-based company in the last couple of months has proven to be eager in appeasing towards the video game industry. For one, the firm alongside Microsoft formed an agreement following the release of the Xbox Series X to feature LG-branded televisions as the official display for the next-generation console.

Entering 2021, the firm continues its campaign for more expandable gaming outside of console believe it or not. Though still relevant to gaming, the company this month announced to be collaborating with Google in supporting cloud streaming platform Stadia later on this year.

“Stadia is changing how people access their favorite games and by providing webOS compatibility, we’re making an early commitment to the platform,” says LG Senior Vice President of Corporate Business Strategy Lee Sang-woo.

LG plans to have the new service launched within the second half of 2021 on LG Smart TVs as a downloadable app from the LG Content Store in countries where Stadia is available. Stadia already offers more than 130 games with more being added regularly. Games can be purchased individually or gamers can claim a regular cadence of games to be played for free with a subscription to Stadia Pro, which includes exclusive discounts and up to 4K resolution.

Exhilarating gaming with immersive 5.1 channel surround sound and support for up to 4K HDR and 60 FPS makes the Stadia platform a compelling choice for anyone looking for a great gaming experience without the need for an expensive, dedicated gaming console.

Sang-woo adds, “supporting Stadia on LG TVs is our commitment to customers that gaming is an increasingly important feature expected by LG TV owners.” In the press release, LG also emphasizes on the additional perks available for those that regular the Stadia Pro service with 4K resolution output and 5.1 surround sound.

In other news regarding cloud streaming initiatives, Microsoft announced previously that its in-house xCloud service is scheduled to hit iOS sometime in spring 2021. In addition to that, PC is also due for the same integration that same time. You can read the full report by heading here.
