Bungie held its Marathon Gameplay Showcase today and released more information for its brand-new team-based extraction shooter. Marathon will officially release on September 23, 2025, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
The release date was announced during the Gameplay Reveal Trailer, which gave us a look at the four different Runners that will be available during the Closed Alpha.

Bungie also announced that the Closed Alpha for Marathon will go live on April 23, 2025, for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Players can also wishlist the game across all platforms starting today.

Marathon is a new first-person shooter from Bungie, which is known for its work on Halo and Destiny. However, an extraction shooter was unexpected from the studio. Marathon is a reboot of the title that was released in December 1994 before Halo was released.
