The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially been revealed after months of leaks. The trailer confirmed everything aesthetically about the console including the magnetic joy-cons and the Blue and Orange color scheme. It also seemingly confirmed that Mario Kart 9 would be coming to the next-generation console.
The gameplay shown was at the beginning of a race on an unknown course that looked to be a large track in the middle of the desert. It was noticed shortly after the trailer was released that there were 24 available kart spots at the beginning of the race.
24-player races would be double of what Mario Kart 8 Deluxe currently has with only 12 players.

Nintendo did not confirm nor deny if this is Mario Kart 9 or if it’s an enhanced version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. However, there are differences in the character’s art and the karts making us think it’s a brand-new game.
It has been over a decade since we received a new Mario Kart game. Mario Kart 8 released on May 29, 2014, on the Wii U. Deluxe, was an enhanced version of the game giving it many more years of life.
