Believe it or not, the announcement for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was just short of two years ago come this September. But despite the year wait, Insomniac Games has managed to keep many players in the dark about the highly-anticipated sequel since then. With a heavy confirmation Venom will play a large role as the game’s antagonist, many fans cannot ignore any potential new details on the next PlayStation exclusive.

In December, it was confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is aiming to release this fall. While no specific date was shared, it is understood this week’s PlayStation Showcase will give its fans that date. Additionally, Insomniac Games & Marvel Comics recently rolled out a free prequel comic for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in anticipation for the coming release.

But, there is some shocking new underway for the sequel. With the original trailer sharing a team up between Peter Parker & Miles Morales, many speculated the game to be introducing some form of co-op play. In one response via Twitter, Insomniac Games denounces that hope.

Aside from the recent comment online, players are still hungry for more details on the new game. However, that is not all Insomniac Games is cooking up. A new title, Marvel’s Wolverine, is in active development. Perhaps when the new installment for Marvel’s Spider-Man ships later this year some hints will be dropped directing to the next game that will likely connect to the events of the New York webster.

Previously, older Insomniac Games were recently added to Steam. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales were welcomed to PC this past fall. Perhaps after some time, there is room for hope to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also on PC as well to complete the current lineup.

Are you upset there is no co-op for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is listed for PlayStation 5.
