Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was PlayStation Studios’ biggest game of 2023 when it was released on October 20, 2023, for PlayStation 5. The Game Of The Year Nominee from Insomniac Games was featured in seven categories at The Game Awards and many thought the game could have left with multiple awards even if it wouldn’t win the biggest award which was given to Baldur’s Gate 3.
Spider-Man 2 was featured in the following categories at The Game Awards:
Game of the Year
Best Game Direction
Best Narrative
Best Performance (Yuri Lowenthal)
Best Action/Adventure Game
Innovation in Accessibility
Best Audio Design
After being represented in all of these categories, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 went home empty-handed after The Game Awards. Some might argue if Baldur’s Gate 3 hadn’t been released this year that it would be a different story.
Sony did appear at the show with the announcement of God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla, a free DLC from PlayStation to fans for supporting the game over the last year.
