While the launch for the PlayStation 5 emphasized on the marketing for the highly-anticipated standalone Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the release did come with some controversy that left fans questioning the intentions from Sony Interactive Entertainment alongside Insomniac Games. For one, it was reported that a remastered version for Marvel’s Spider-Man would be only available through purchasing the new standalone entry.
Not only that, if players decided to pay for the remastered version through Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales there is no way to revisit previously made saves. Thankfully, Insomniac Games did issue an update which added cross-generation saving allowing users to load their progress on the newest systems. But even then, players still had no opportunity to purchase the game on its own.
In a new finding from Twisted Voxel, it is reported that the game is available for purchase as an independent client. However, there are some issues on how to pursue it. For one, if you own the original PlayStation 4 game alongside the game’s DLC, you cannot purchase the remastered version apparently.
“For those who owned the original Spider-Man and its DLC, there was no way to upgrade to the Remastered version without shelling out $19.99 after purchasing a copy of Miles Morales. However, this standalone release is still not available for purchase for those with the DLC and full game combo.”
Through the experience of the publication on the PlayStation Store, it is relayed that the game is only available for download. The same thing is also found in the library – displaying PlayStation 4’s Marvel’s Spider-Man is ready to install, not the remastered version. So for now, this is an hiccup on Sony’s behalf within the storefront and is expected to be resolved sometime soon.
Would you pick up the remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 5 separately?
