Finally breaking away from the Early Access phase, Media Molecule announced that its coming game crafting project Dream would officially arrive this past February. And while ecstatic fans were eager to see the title is finally underway for release, it was uncertain where exactly the PlayStation VR version of the game was. Prior to the announcement, mentions of a version for the virtual reality peripheral were tossed around, but not much was spared on the matters of it releasing then.
Following release as players began conjuring their own experiences in Dreams, it was still unsure when PlayStation VR users could join in on the fun. But now in a new blog post, Media Molecule shares that the virtual reality port for the game will be arriving later this month actually.
Introducing DreamShaping, Media Molecule has developed a new line of tutorials for players transitioning to virtual reality to better understand the tools in the new peripheral. With the new update debuting VR to Dreams, the studio has also shipped a handful of new elements to the game to extend the creativity process when using Dreams.
Of course, Media Molecule also shipped a handful of new experience developed by the team responsible for the game as well. In that, the developer emphasizes that users sample the new projects that will be added as they can take from that to their own creations. Returning back to the discussion of VR, creation with the headset is framed by the team as a “one-on-one experience” with your creations at your finger tips.
Releasing your projects for the community to play, users can also specify if their game is for the traditional gamepad, virtual reality, or both. Even more, there will be a new rating system for VR-supported projects which structure the comfortableness of each game available to play.
What are you most excited to see from this new update?
Dreams is coming to PlayStation VR on July 22, 2020; out now for PlayStation 4.
