This week, Konami officially let the news out of the bag – Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is coming later this August. Earlier this year, the PlayStation Store did leak the release date ahead of proper channels disclosing the announcement, but now it is official. And fans are excited for the return to the 2004 release. But, there is more that was not disclosed on the surface of the new title.

Although the game was a celebrated PlayStation title, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is to release on Xbox as well. And despite the original release did featured the ‘Snake vs Monkey’ special game, that has been preserved for the new remake. But, what about on Xbox. The special game does feature Ape Escape Pipo Monkeys, so is that really allowed?

In a separate trailer directed for the Xbox version, Konami does hint that there is a different version for this special game for this platform. You can watch the segment of the trailer in the video below:

“A different special game will be implemented for the Xbox version! Please wait for further details,” Konami writes as a disclaimer for the Xbox version in the trailer’s YouTube description. The PlayStation trailer instead reads: “The special game ‘Snake vs Monkey’ to capture the Pipo Monkeys is back for PS5!” The Snake vs Monkey special game is also present on the Steam version as well.

This is not the first instance that platform unique encounters were implemented by Konami. For the release of Super Bomberman R, the game featured Master Chief for Xbox One, Ratchet for PlayStation 4, and P-Body from Portal 2 for Steam. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised by this adjustment between platforms?

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater ships August 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
