Microsoft announced today that their streaming app Beam has been renamed and received new features. The official new name is now Mixer, and the app is available for all beginning today.
One of the newest features is co-streaming. This will allow you to broadcast up to four streams all on one screen, meaning a full co-op squad of Gears of War can now be shown on a single screen for a much deeper immersion into the team’s gameplay. Other features, such as an always on news channel and mobile app, were also announced.
The news stream is called Channel One and will feature event announcements, esports updates and various other breaking news. The mobile app, Mixer Create, is in beta beginning today and will soon let you broadcast games from your devices while on the go. A number of streams will be broadcast today from various Microsoft stores in celebration of the launch, and you can see the full schedule below in the provided image.
The Mixer app simply replaces the Beam app on your Xbox One Guide page, and you can sign up for the service beginning today. Check out the announcement video below.
