Earlier in the week, The Verge reported that approximately 238,000 employees at Microsoft would lose their free access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate starting in January. After many complaints from employees to reverse the decision, their wishes came true.
Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer confirmed the decision has been reversed and Microsoft employees will keep their access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This is what Spencer said internally at the company:
After looking into this more with the team, I just want to confirm that no change will be made to Game Pass availability in 2024. If you have access to the Game Pass offer today you will continue to have access. I appreciate the time to get up to speed and sorry for the questions and confusion created. And thanks for supporting Xbox.
After a lot of panic about losing the subscription they’ve had for the last four years, it will remain there for most of the employees at Microsoft.
