Mark summer this year will be the third year since the initial release of Microsoft Flight Simulator – on PC that is. But what comes to be an impressive surprise for the game is the number of content in post-launch that came to the game. Noted, this was not part of a campaign to deliver the promise of a finished game as it was fairly polished at launch alone. In fact, many already saw this with more than 10 million players already jumping into the game.
Part of the free add-on plans of Microsoft Flight SImulator comes in the form of World Updates. “The jewel of the southwestern Pacific, born of volcanic fire and hewn by the sea and sky, New Zealand is globally renowned for its breathtaking vistas from Aoraki/Mount Cook, the country’s highest mountain at 12,218 feet above sea level; to the Milford Sound, a spectacular fjord that novelist Rudyard Kipling called the eighth Wonder of the World; Auckland’s needle-like Sky Tower, one of the highest structures on the planet; and the Bay of Islands, a group of 144 islands and numerous small peninsulas and inlets,” writes Microsoft Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann.
“The Microsoft Flight Simulator team brought together the latest geographic data to create World Update XII: New Zealand, including satellite imagery, aerial photography, and digital elevation models. The team even incorporated the Hobbiton Movie Set on New Zealand’s North Island that is surrounded by the region’s unique natural splendor.”
