Microsoft has “no plans” to bring Xbox Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo

Recently, Phil Spencer was interviewed by Jez Corden of Windows Central and was asked several questions about the Xbox platform including a topic that’s been discussed on the internet this week. He was asked about the idea of potentially bringing Xbox Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo platforms.

The question was raised because of Xbox CFO, Tim Stuart who held a presentation with Wells Fargo stating they’d like to put Xbox Game Pass on any device that can play games including Nintendo and PlayStation. That would sound believable since Microsoft’s vision over the last few years is to put their games on as many platforms as possible.

Here is what Phil Spencer said to Windows Central:

“I’ll start by saying we have no plans to bring Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo. It’s not in our plans. But I think you hit on the right point of ‘what it means to own an Xbox.’ The thing I want to be focused on is how do we continue to innovate for people who’ve made the commitment to our hardware platform?”

In another interview with Bloomberg, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer said they are working with partners on an Xbox mobile store that would compete with Google Play and the Apple App Store.
