This week, a new report emerged from VG24/7 which told that a June event hosted by Microsoft has suddenly been ushered to the latter of this summer for August now. While there was no set event to take place as of yet, VentureBeat writer Jeff Grubb shared on Twitter that the show was “dropped all the way to August.”
However, following the publication of the report being made, two lead figures at Microsoft went to denounce the claims that were made and later amplified by the growing report. Xbox General Manager Aaron Greenberg and Xbox UK Marketing Lead Samuel Batemen took it to Twitter to dismantle the claims that were quickly being spread around online.
Tacking on from the statement made from Greenberg in particular, he again verifies on the previous assertion which told that Microsoft would be pursuing its next show in July. The Xbox 20/20 initiative was presumed to continue this month as a monthly showcase which initiated last month. Greenberg shares June’s Inside Xbox show to be handled a “little different” than previous shows.
This now marks another instance that Grubb has went public to disclose inside information and was later determined to be inaccurate. While he was correct about some instances earlier in 2020, Grubb as of late has began to slip up in his statements. The most recent was the initial date for the PlayStation 5 showcase which he insinuated to take place on June 3, but was officially announced for the day following before being postponed to June 11.
Perhaps industry figures are watching Grubb’s statements online and alters its operations in spite of undisclosed information being tossed online prior to the official reveal. Hopefully the previously made claim by Grubb regarding Pikmin 3 Deluxe does come to fruition later on as many fans do anticipate to see the game make its way to Nintendo Switch.
