Although the industry still holds a strong standing toward physical media for new releases and legacy titles as well, there is a heavy shift towards all-digital. This generation specifically, there has been an emphasis on disc drive-free consoles from both Xbox & PlayStation. This week alone, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the new PlayStation 5 ‘Slim’ models which can attach an additional external ultra HD Blu-ray player.

Over on Microsoft’s side of the fence, the firm already shipped its second iteration of the Xbox Series S, the Carbon Black. Not only does the system comes with a new titular coat of paint, it also features a complete 1 TB hard drive. Overall, it has proven that Xbox Series S has been a strong seller for Xbox with the Series S as per a slide earlier this summer in Brazil.

From a new announcement on Thursday, Microsoft is planning to roll out a new ‘Xbox Series S Starter Bundle’. What’s inside this package comes with the titular console alongside a three-month subscription of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – all for the same price as the current on-shelf SKU.
