Of the entire infrastructure that Microsoft has crafted for Xbox, xCloud has remained the most robust and surprisingly versatile system for its platform. While pitched for mobile devices, users can stream games via Xbox Cloud Gaming on both console and even PC as well. We witnessed this with Fortnite last year thanks to the continued effort. However, this approach could be what costs the Xbox firm its acquisition for Activision Blizzard.

From the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the recent investigation concluded that Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service could prove to be malicious to competition if offering this new buyout exclusively through this platform. As a response to Microsoft’s parity to multiplatform releases, the firm revealed its effort to offer a decade of “Xbox games”, namely Call of Duty, to Nintendo Switch this week.

Additionally, the same can also be said for Nvidia GeForce Now. A new arrangement with Microsoft will bridge the service with PC Game Pass enabling the service to be accessed on a different cloud streaming service and this includes Call of Duty. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made this announcement on Twitter.

“Microsoft will be bringing its Xbox games that play on PCs to Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service. We will also bring all of Activision Blizzard’s titles including Call of Duty to GeForce Now,” says Microsoft president Brad Smith to The Verge in a statement at this week’s press conference in Brussels, Belgium.

As Xbox Cloud Gaming remains a talking point amongst the ongoing buyout for Activision Blizzard, Microsoft has reassured traditional fans that cloud streaming will not overshadow console gaming. The firm made this clear in a statement made back in July by Xbox Game Pass senior global product manager Pav Bhardwaj. You can read the full report by heading here.
