Now more than a year after the initial release of Minecraft Dungeons, the game reached a surprising milestone in that timeframe. Announced back in February, Mojang Studios revealed that the game has generated more than 15 million players. This is expected to be a compilation of users stretching across all platforms the game is available on.
Additionally, the game is taking a new turn in terms of its content. While the scheduled expansions ended with ‘Echoing Void’ previously, the game is now transitioning to seasonal adventures. This new initiative kicked off back in holiday 2021 and the new tradition is carrying over into the spring this week.
From Mojang Studios, Minecraft Dungeons Season Two is to commence on Wednesday with Luminous Nights. “Explore the Tower by night, full of new, fresh floors that include everything from mysterious murals and perplexing puzzles to the wildfire – a fiery foe that may prove too hot to handle for even the most seasoned adventurers! Tread lightly, as it prefers its opponents well done!” an overview for the new season release reveals.
“Just like the previous season, there are plenty of new rewards to earn – rewards that look particularly stylish during the night,” writes Per Landin, Minecraft Studios creative communications assistant. “Skins, capes, emotes, and flairs will light up your surroundings with a luminescent light, while new adorable pets such as the ministrosity and abomination will light the fire in your heart.”
For those unfamiliar, Mojang Studios is bringing Minecraft Dungeons to an all-new medium: arcade cabinets. In collaboration with Play Mechanix, the new version of the game is to feature a card system to bring a new novelty to the game suited for this adaptation.
