Big changes are underway for Mojang Studio’s Minecraft. In December, the annual Mob Vote took place and the players democratically decided on the newest addition to the game being the Armadillo. Additionally, more changes are also promised. In a separate announcement, it was revealed that Xbox Series X|S versions of the game will feature 4K patchwork as well for users on that platform.

Elsewhere, the live-action film also started picking up traction online at that time. During the holiday, it was reported that the Warner Bros. film is already in production since December. To add to the conversation, the casting for the new motion picture was revealed for one of the leads. In that, Jack Black (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Borderlands) is also to star as Steve in the new film.

This week, Mojang Studios in a surprise reveal announced mod support is coming to the Bedrock Edition Minecraft Marketplace. Under the new alias ‘Add-Ons’, user-created content can be submitted to the storefront and installed directly to the game across multiple platforms. To celebrate, there is a list of free add-ons: All The Wool, Spark Pets, Another Furniture, and Hiker’s Friend. Premium add-ons ‘Sparks Portals’ & ‘Computers’ are also featured, but cost 600 coins.

Add-ons* are entering Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with the power to alter your worlds as you know them! Available through Minecraft Marketplace, add-ons let you add new blocks, mobs, items, recipes, and other content to both your existing worlds and new ones. Maybe you’re missing a mid-century chair in your otherwise perfect mansion? Or dream of dragons roaming the Overworld? How about both?

Linn Viberg, Mojang Studios Creative Writer

“Add-ons are your way to unlock new designs, adventures, and game mechanics. In other words – a literal game changer! And rumor has it we’re giving several of them away for free… Since we all play Minecraft differently, my dream of exploring the Overworld on a pogo stick might, strangely enough, not be yours. With add-ons, you get to change your game, your way!

“So whether it’s more cuteness, convenience, creepiness, or chaos you’re looking for, you can now add it to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition no matter which device you play on. The best thing is you don’t have to pick because add-ons can be combined! Although, maybe the actual best thing is that you don’t have to be tech savvy to install them – you just download the content from Minecraft Marketplace.”

Minecraft is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
