When it comes to developer Mojang Studios, it is a good guess the game studio is working on Minecraft. Even when the team is not occupied with the decade-old release, Minecraft is still the foundation for the team’s next project. Look at Minecraft Dungeons: set within the confines of the pixelate universe, the developer pushes the boundaries of its formula with a dungeon crawler experience.
In recent weeks, new information has come in terms of the IP. From The Ankler, the live-action film is still taking form with Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess joining the production with Jason Mamoa (Aquaman) reported to star. Additionally, Minecraft just released The Wild Update which welcomes the new Deep Dark and improved swamp biome as well.
At the Xbox + Bethesda Showcase on Sunday, Mojang Studios reveals its newest project – Minecraft Legends. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“In Minecraft Legends, players will discover a gentle land, both familiar and mysterious, full of lush biomes and rich resources. But this beautiful land is on the brink of terrible change – the piglin invasion has begun and threatens to corrupt the Overworld,” explains Dennis Ries, Executive Producer for Minecraft Legends.
“It´s up to the player to make unexpected friends (including some classic mobs you’ll recognize from Minecraft) to form valuable alliances and lead the way into strategic battles against the fierce invaders from the Nether. The game will have a very exciting campaign that will introduce many surprises for both new and seasoned Minecraft player alike. And for those looking to play with friends, there will be online campaign co-op and competitive multiplayer.”
He adds, “To deliver our vision as an action strategy game, we knew we needed to partner with a team that could help us bring Minecraft Legends to life in the best way possible. We are thrilled to partner with Blackbird Interactive, a development team with a long track record of delivering strong strategy gameplay experiences.”
