For many Left 4 Dead fans still lingering after a decade-long wait to receive a new addition to the zombie survival series, many already presume another entry for the pair of titles would never arrive. And they have every right to believe that as Valve confirmed that it is “not working on anything Left 4 Dead related,” the firm told IGN back in January.
Howbeit, while a mainline installment is not on the horizon, there are other projects with the franchise’s DNA that will be arriving in the later run of titles in the coming future. That being Back 4 blood, developer Turtle Rock Studios responsible for the Left 4 Dead series is working on a new IP under Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The team this past 4th of July shared the first concept art for the upcoming title.
But to reiterate on the current Left 4 Dead entries, Valve has announced that a new update will be coming to Left 4 Dead 2 in the near future. Dubbed ‘The Last Stand’, it will incorporate a new campaign of community-generated levels to reinvigorate the 2010 title. Sharing a brief trailer last week, the firm has a second teaser video sparing more details on the new client underway.
You can watch the second teaser trailer in the video below:
“This update will feature a brand new campaign based on the original “The Last Stand” survival map from Left 4 Dead, designed by our skilled mappers NF, Roku, and Wolphin – you may even recognize them as authors of popular custom campaigns on the workshop, such as Hard Rain: Downpour and Dark Carnival: Remix,” the video’s description reads.
Taken from the statement, many involved community members behind prolific Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns are to have their hands in this new collective dish. And with the new project also being pushed by Valve directly, it is reassuring to see that the firm responsible for the game its players loves is also assisting with brining new life to the title.
A similar initiative was also illustrated to be practiced by Five Nights at Freddy’s creator, Scott Cawthon. In that, he revealed to be supporting community developers by providing them a platform alongside adding his own financial earnings to better push the coming fan-made projects.
