After more than two decades of lackluster film adaptations that do not truly resonate with hardcore fans of the franchise, the most promising Mortal Kombat film appears to be on the horizon. While reports lingered as to what the coming production will be, there was no real tangible grasp regarding the presentation of the movie. Until the first glimpse came from Entertainment Weekly with screen grabs of the motion picture.

It was not too long after that New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. introduced the first full-length trailer for the upcoming film. Fans then were able to truly decipher the approach for the production as characters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Jax, Milleena, and more were featured in the footage. And even more exciting is the soon April release date for the film as well.

That was until this past Tuesday as per a report from Variety which indicates that Mortal Kombat will not be arriving on April 16. Instead, the film is now told to be receiving a week push to release the film on April 23.

The decision from Warner Bros. is gathered to be an approach to better space out the release of films from the entertainment distributor. In that, ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ released on March 31 and already accumulated $121 million in box office response to the latest entry. Both that and Mortal Kombat are to also release on HBO Max opening day alongside a traditional theatrical debut. You can read the full report by heading here.
