As 2019 slowly approaches upon us with new titles on the horizon to meet us in the new year, more information continues to unveil on some of the anticipated titles ahead. Previously discussed after being leaked, Capcom has officially revealed the new multiplayer mode for the upcoming Devil May Cry title.
In the blog post from the Capcom Community Manager Yuri Araujo, he details the meat of the recently released trailer from this year’s Game Awards last week. In the process, Araujo also gives some insight on The Cameo System that will allow players to fight demons simultaneously.
“The game is primarily a single player experience, but director Itsuno-san and the team really wanted to tell an epic story with three distinct perspectives and play-styles, where the main protagonists run into each other and collaborate from time to time. So to make that a reality, they’ve implemented a system where, while connected to the Internet, players will make guest cameo appearances in each other’s games in real time, or through ghost data gameplay recordings. Depending on the mission, you’ll see another player in the background, but in other cases, you’ll actually be slicing and dicing demons side-by-side with another players!”
Players will have the option following each cameo at the end of the mission to rate how stylish the partnering player preformed. And Araujo urges to be mindful with how you fight as there will be rewards for how you fight alongside another player. The Cameo System is only available for certain missions that have characters present during a fight: meaning your friend won’t be able to hop into the fight with you as some missions are intended to be strictly alone.
If you missed it already, it was detailed before the trailer’s debut that the demo for the March-released hack-n-slash is available for download on Xbox One.
Devil May Cry V will be available for PlayStation 4 Xbox One, and PC March 8, 2019.
