NBA 2K22 Announced With Luka Doncic, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, And Kevin Durant Featured As Cover Athletes

Last year, the reveal of NBA 2K21 was monumental when discovering that the newest entry in the series is also a featured title for the PlayStation 5. At the time, plenty of games at the time were yet to reveal gameplay, however, developer Visual Concepts shared pre-alpha footage of the game in June 2020 at the time. But, the game was later reported to be a burden on next-generation consoles when discovering its file size easily ticking over 100 GB.

From our critic David Rodriguez, he gave NBA 2K21 a 8.3 / 10 stating that, “NBA 2K21 cuts back on the VC grind, and provides a deep, satisfying game of basketball for new and old fans alike.” Most unique to last year’s version happened to be the homage to the late Kobe Bryant. In that, 2K & Visual Concepts made the ‘Mamba Forever Edition’, the next-generation enhancement version of the game dedicated to the passed basketball player.

Last week, 2K announced NBA 2K22. In that, Luka Doncic, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant were revealed to be the cover athletes for the new game. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“T he NBA 2K cover has always been a vehicle for storytelling and a way to showcase the unique and diverse backgrounds of the athletes,” said Alfie Brody, NBA 2K Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy. “The culture around the game of basketball is vibrant and transcends geographical boundaries. This year, we want to showcase that global diversity via Charly’s amazing, one-of-a-kind art.”

The Dallas Mavericks Point Guard will be the cover athlete for the standard and cross-generation version of NBA 2K22 while the Six-record MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, recognized Power Forward Dirk Nowitzki, and Brooklyn Nets Power Forward Kevin Durant is to be featured on the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition cover.

Already, Electronic Arts already unveiled both Madden NFL 22 & FIFA 22 earlier this month. However, the firm is looking to possibly unveil its return for NBA Live this year. Previously, the firm shared to be skipping its 2020 release of the series to emphasize on its plans for next-generation hardware. You can read the full report by heading here.
