In the era of remakes, fans are always hungry for the next announcement. Whether it be Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell or Remedy Entertainment’s Max Payne & Max Payne 2, the next one receives even louder applause. And came Aspyr’s reveal for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, it was as you would expect. But, anxiety grew once the game faced a delay announcement shortly after.
Especially with Sony Interactive Entertainment publishing the project, it came at a surprise for many. It was until reports that developer Aspyr might be out of the picture. By May 2022, Embracer Group officially announced that Aspyr would no longer be overlooking direct development and to instead the game be helmed by Saber Interactive instead.
And whilst the project has remained quiet, many fans are concerned the title might be close to being shelved entirely. However, according to the recent Embracer Group interim report, it reveals that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is still on the map for release. But, the report does not expand further on the game.
What is public knowledge on the upcoming title is that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake whenever it comes will launch first on PlayStation 5. Alongside a PC release simultaneously, there is no Xbox version. But, that is not permanent. In one comment from Embracer Group, it reveals that the title is only a timed exclusive despite the publishing from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
In addition to the wait for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, it is not the only anticipated Star Wars title far from launch. At The Game Awards 2021, Quantic Dream revealed Star Wars Eclipse – a new narrative-driven experience based on the franchise set a long time ago. You can read the full report by heading here.
