New Job Listing Reveals Sony’s Plans To Bring Its Major Franchises To Mobile Devices

Sony Interactive Entertainment appears to be tackling more than just PlayStation this coming generation. Although the platform giant is already established with the launch of the PlayStation 5 this past November, the company is looking to other systems to further reach to new users. With the firm already ending production of its proprietary handheld, the PlayStation Vita, Sony is open to more opportunity in this aspect.

Already, we witness that PC players are beginning to be a new priority for the PlayStation company. In February, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan commented that Days Gone is to be the next game to grace the platform later this summer. He also asserts that this will only domino for more recognized PlayStation titles to arrive to PC later on also.

Now it appears that mobile is another market for Sony Interactive Entertainment to tap into. In a new job posting for ‘Head of Mobile, PlayStation Studios’, it is discovered that the firm is looking to deliver the same franchises to the smart phone audience as well.

“As Head of Mobile, you will own and develop the mobile games strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities,” the listing shares. “You will lead all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile.”

The job listing does happen to clear some noise surrounding Sony Interactive Entertainment in one report from Bloomberg. In that, it is indicated that the PlayStation firm is redirecting its focus to its larger internal studios and major intellectual properties leading forward. The report also tells of a remake for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us and the unlikeliest chance of a follow-up to Days Gone.

Perhaps, the new venture is part of cloud streaming that answers to Xbox Game Pass? Recently, God of War creator David Jaffe told that Sony Interactive Entertainment is certainly working on the “counterpunch” to Xbox Game Pass and possibly that is through a mobile alternative. Jaffe is uncertain of the approach as of reporting. You can read the full report by heading here.
