More than a month ago, it was shared through Kotaku Editor Jason Schreier that Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II will be hitting store shelves just next year. Specifically sometime in February, Schreier stated to of heard through the grapevine that the title’s date initially aimed for sometime this Fall, but was pushed to give space for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding which is launching this November.
And now it seems that more information regarding the alleged release date for the highly anticipated sequel has backed Schreier’s statement as this latest rumor states that February 2020 will be when players can expect the post-apocalyptic, story driven title. On ResetEra, Administrator ZhugeEX shared an image from a Chinese source that claims the game’s release date planned for early 2020.
Along with the aimed timeframe for The Last of Us sequel, the source also shares that Sony plans to drop the game with four different pre-order editions of the game for players to choose from: Standard Edition, Special Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Ellie Edition. As for the contents of each edition, that has not been disclosed from the source.
Now this being the second time of reporting the follow-up title rumored to be slated for a February 2020 release, this does give some traction to see Sony officially reveal the date sometime soon for this coming Winter. As for how the announcement is expected to go down, it is expected that Sony will host a State of Play presentation livestream which will give the game a proper release date reveal.
Looking that the two state the sequel to drop in February, the announcement is speculated to take place sometime in the coming weeks to give time between then and asserted release date. What are your thoughts on The Last of Us Part II possibly dropping this soon shortly after the turn into 2020?
The Last of Us Part II is listed for PlayStation 4.
