This past week, developer Rockstar Games announced that new additions will be coming to its online lobbies for both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. In that, the team disclosed that while a new heist is scheduled to arrive later this year, a new role for Red Dead Online is slated to debut in the Five Counties the following week. Disclosing the new Naturalist role providing players with new initiative for Red Dead Online, the team withheld details for the update to share upon arrival.
Unlike the previous roles already available in Red Dead Online, the Naturalist is split between a rivalry of two animal enthusiasts: one Harriet Davenport looks to continue her study on the wildlife of the American Frontier whilst Gus Macmillan on the other hand is interested in the sport of hunting. Assisting either will reward players with respected items on how you pursue the animals – through sedation or traditional hunting.
Essentially, players will be encouraged to expand their Animal Field Guide to grasp a better understanding on the wildlife of the region. Doing so through the Survivalist role will unveil new items and other approaches to the game. Additionally, players will uncover a new breed of horses unique to the Naturalist role alongside a collection of new clothing on how the player pursues their interaction with animals.
Returning to the feud between the two Davenport & Macmillan, players deciding to study or poach animals will find different outcomes in their progress in the role. Siding with Davenport will open new opportunity to foil the plans of local poachers hunting the wildlife for sport. Or siding with Macmillan will not shine too bright with Davenport and she will take notice to your nefarious deeds in the Five Counties.
Additionally, players can also find new items that will be obtainable as they continue to progress as a Naturalist. Further your study of animals with the Advanced Camera or ensure your kill with the Improved Bow & Elephant Rifle; all can be found through the Wheeler, Rawson, and Co. Catalogue.
