New report shows Sony failed its fans with PS2 emulation

The sneaky release of the PS4’S emulator allowing PS2 games to be played raised some heads and it looks like we may know why. A report on Eurogamer indicates that the game’s will not be compatible with PS2 classics discs or PS3 digital purchases. This, of course, means you will have to re purchase the game all over again should you wish to play it.

As you can imagine, PlayStation fans are already grumbling about the report and having to pay for something they already own. Even with upscale 1080P graphics and trophy support, this will make the program stall before it even gets off the ground. We contacted Sony for confirmation because, as you can see from the image below, they pulled the statement indicating as such from their preview video of Dark Cloud running on PS4.

We’ll have to wait and see what Sony responds with in comment, but for now it’s becoming more and more obvious, unfortunately,  that Sony wasn’t kidding when they said they had “no clue” on how Xbox did backward compatibility.
