From developer Techland, the Polish game studio has remained focused on its Dying Light IP for more than a decade. With the first installment releasing in 2015 followed by continued post-launch support until its sequel arrived in 2022, the same amount of attention is expected to take place for the follow-up as well.

From our review for Dying Light 2, Rectify Gaming issued a 9.2/10 score for the title. “Dying Light 2 is a bigger and better game in every possible facet. The campaign is very good and has a lot of replay factor. […] Dying Light 2 great movement and deep story focus makes it a sequel worth losing a few nights of sleep over.”

Recently, it was uncovered that Techland filed a new trademark for the Dying Light series. In that, it revealed ‘Dying Light: The Beast’ is a new filing from the Polish developer. The filing indicates the new trademark is intended for use under multiple classes. X user @Kurakasis indicates that the trademark is filed under class 09 & 41 which is routine for video games.

“The key class for video games is international class 9. Class 41, for online services, is also common. Class 28 (linked to US class 22 you mentioned) is mostly for mobile games. This trademark has classes 9 and 41, which are standard for video games,” the user wrote in a thread on the post. Many fans are adamant on this title being a mobile title, but little has confirmed this speculation rather than being largely conjecture for now.

What could be more tangible is a potential announcement nearing this month. While Techland is not listed for Gamescom Opening Night Live, Square Enix is. The Japanese firm is most notable for its attachment to Dying Light in publishing the sequel. Of course, take that as you may until proper channels announce new information on Dying Light plans.

What do you think Dying Light: The Beast might be?
