Although Microsoft has already delivered quite a bundle of games in 2023 alone, codenamed titles are also on the way internally. Thus far, many of these projects have been announced over the past year now. This includes ‘Project Pentiment’ that became Obsidian’s Pentiment which released last year. Additionally, ‘Project Black’ turned into Compulsion’s South of Midnight & ‘Project Cobalt’ was revealed in being Clockwork Revolution earlier this year.

Not only that, but Stoic Studios’ ‘Project Belfry’ also went on to be revealed as Towerborne as well this year. And, there is still more that the Xbox firm has yet to spare in terms of other unannounced games. In one report from Jeff Grubb previously, it was tipped that a new title dubbed ‘Project Shaolin’ was in the works in collaboration with rap group The Wu-Tang Clan & BrassLion Entertainment which would incorporate many of its songs into the experience.

According to a new update from Insider Gaming, this project is still underway. But from a new leak from sources familiar with the project, it is revealed that the new game is to be a four player, cooperative experience. Much about Wu-Tang Clan songs in the core gameplay still remains according to the recent report.

Insider Gaming goes on to mention that the gameplay revolves around third-person melee combat. Four weapon classes are said to be in the full game. And similar to how Hi-Fi Rush is structured, this new Wu-Tang Clan project is to configure the combat to the repetition of the soundtrack. Sources also say that DJ Just Blaze is behind the re-imagining of the Wu-Tang tracks.

Moreover on the combat, all nine members of The Wu-Tang Clan is to be in Project Shaolin; each with their own limited-time buffs & ultimate abilities to offer unique gameplay experiences. There is also a player-oriented hub under the alias of ‘The Neighborhood’ for players to meet, sell loot, and listen to Wu-Tang tracks. Even the look of the game is said to be “Spider-verse”-esque with low FPS character animations and cell-shaded models.
