News has been coming from Sega over the last several weeks with its recent financial results being reported showing that Sega is working on a ‘super game’ with a $800M budget. Recently the publisher released the company’s quarterly investor Q&A for the Q2 financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2024.
There was an interesting answer given to a question that asks about the Persona series possibly selling 5 million copies in its first year. Sega might have hinted that the next major Persona game will likely ship on multiple platforms at once.
Here is the exact question and answer:
Q: Is there a chance that, with its overseas popularity, the Persona series could sell 5 million copies in its first year?
A: By increasing the number of platforms it is available on and the regions it is released in, we have been increasing the sales of Persona 5. We believe that it would be possible for a major Persona title, such as a numbered release, to sell 5 million copies in its first year by releasing it on multiple platforms and simultaneously worldwide from day one.
Traditionally for recent major Persona games they have been releasing on PlayStation exclusively, but now Atlus and Sega are open to bring these games to all platforms. In a recent leak from I Am A Hero Too suggests that Persona 6 is planned for a 2025 release with a reveal coming in 2024.
It had been reported that Persona 6 would come to Xbox Day One, but no other details were reported at that time. It’s very possible the next entry in the Persona series will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XlS, Nintendo Switch, and PC as that is probably the best way to get 5 million copies sold.
