Developer Niantic as always continues to add new gameplay elements for its most popular mobile title, Pokémon Go. While its most notable announcement from last month only teases what is on the horizon with Mega Evolutions finally coming to the augmented reality experience, Niantic has a new reveal that will be taking place right now. In a new post this week, the studio shares that Team Rocket is now in the game.
Although it is a brief moment, the duo Jesse & James can be found prowling in your area as you play Pokémon Go. The team discloses that you can find them via the iconic Meowth hot air balloon that will be cruising through the air and simply tap the air craft to battle the prolific antagonists.

“As Team GO Rocket’s balloons prowl the skies, we’ve been investigating them further,” Niantic expands on the new addition states. “The Grunts piloting the balloons are just as perplexed as we are as to where these characters came from. From what we understand, Team GO Rocket has assigned Shadow Pokémon to protect Jessie and James as they seek to create more Shadow Pokémon.”
As expected, there will also be limited time items that players can find in the shop for your avatar inspired by the Team Rocket grunts. Niantic does specify they will not be around for long, however, the team did not disclose when the duo of baddies will be departing from the game in the near future.
