When it comes to exploring AAA projects and console-focused initiatives, Koei Tecmo is illustrating such as of this past handful of weeks. It was reported that the firm has established a new internal studio with sole focus on this effort. Atop of that, the publisher also showcased Ninja Gaiden 4 & Ninja Gaiden 2 Black in January as well.

Our review for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black scored the game a 8.5/10, saying the game is a “a commendable remaster that honors the legacy of the original while making thoughtful improvements for modern audiences. […] This remaster not only revitalizes the intense combat and intricate gameplay that fans cherish but also introduces significant enhancements that cater to both veterans and newcomers alike.”

On Wednesday, Team Ninja has rolled out a new update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black. Although a welcomed addition to current hardware, it was absent of some favored features. But, that is no more a concern as the new update issued both New Game+ alongside photo mode for the remastered title.

“Added the ability to begin a new game on a difficulty level you have previously cleared with the weapons and Ninpo you obtained in your previous playthrough already unlocked. When starting a new game this way, your weapons and Ninpo will be reverted to level 1,” reads the New Game+ synopsis. “Added Photo Mode to the in-game Options Menu. You can move the camera around within a set limit to take screenshots,” it says for photo mode.

In the roadmap ahead, Koei Tecmo is not finished so soon. Recently, it was announced that PlayStation 5 release Rise of the Ronin will be launching in March 2025 for PC as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
