After last month’s release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it is evident that Nintendo looks to further implement other anniversary editions leading forward. Despite the game’s limited release window as the title will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop by March 31 next year in 2021, fans groaned and purchased the three-game bundle regardless of that and the pricing of the collection.

Now in anticipation for the 30th anniversary of Fire Emblem landing this year, Nintendo is preparing to do a similar approach for the franchise. But instead of reintroducing a trio of titles from the repertoire of entries from the franchise, Nintendo decided to only sell the first entry that shipped on the Famicom – Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light.

Most notable from the announcement is that Nintendo will be introducing the first ever English localization of the classic 1990 RPG. The firm tells the game will be arriving the first week of December for $6.99.

The Fire Emblem series has grown into a saga enjoyed by fans for its strategic gameplay and memorable characters. With Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Nintendo Switch owners can now experience the game that started it all with enhanced features that make this timeless adventure available to everyone.

In addition to the announcement, Nintendo also unveils that there will be a Fire Emblem 30th Anniversary Edition which includes an abundance of collectible memorabilia. For $49.99, fans can receive a physical NES box themed after the game, replica NES Game Pak art piece, 222-page artbook, NES instruction manual, inspired world map, and a mini Nintendo Power collectible.

Looking forward, it is still anticipated that Nintendo will further capitalize on the nostalgic value of its properties leading ahead with these anniversary campaigns. Noted, Metroid and the Legend of Zelda are turning 35 in 2021, so perhaps those are the next candidates to receive a similar treatment then.
