Reflecting, Nintendo Switch Online has been a real treat for Nintendo Switch owners since the service’s debut back in September of last year. Since then, players have received a monthly updated library of “free” games as part of the Nintendo Entertainment System library available for those who pay for the subscription. That was until this September, the year anniversary of the service, that Nintendo decided to pull the plug on monthly releases for the service.
While not entirely stopping from including new games to the emulated catalogs, Nintendo would ultimately decide when the next batch of games will be arriving to the NES and the newly added SNES roster when the company felt comfortable doing so. And while it feels that it’s been a while since the last update, you’re absolutely right it has. And Nintendo has finally returned with not two, but six titles that will be arriving.
Starting on December 12 next Thursday, Nintendo will add the following games divided between both libraries:
- Breath of Fire II (SNES)
- Crystalis (NES)
- Journey to Silius (NES)
- Kirby Super Star (SNES)
- Star Fox 2 (SNES)
- Super Punch-Out (SNES)
Although it has only been about three months since the last updated list of games was issued to Nintendo Switch Online catalogs, it sure does feel like a long time since we were accustomed to the monthly additions for a full year. However, with Nintendo providing six in the coming week, this is more than expected as the pattern I would have guessed would be a lesser four.
What games would you like to see be added to future NES/SNES library updates?
Nintendo Switch Online is available for $19.99.
