Super Mario Run, which is destined to release in a few days will be one of the bigger mobile games to hit iPhone and soon Android will be getting this game as well. Nintendo have announced in a interview that you’ll always need to be online to play the game. This comes at a surprise as most of the game is single player, but the one online feature I guess you could say is Toad’s Rally mode which allows you to race against your friends’ high scores.
In a interview with Mashable, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto explained the decision to force online-only play stems.
“For us, we view our software as being a very important asset for us. And also for consumers who are purchasing the game, we want to make sure that we’re able to offer it to them in a way that the software is secure, and that they’re able to play it in a stable environment,” Miyamoto said.
“We wanted to be able to leverage that network connection with all three of the [Super Mario Run] modes to keep all of the modes functioning together and offering the game in a way that keeps the software secure. This is something that we want to continue to work on as we continue to develop the game.”
Super Mario Run will be $9.99 as that comes as a surprise for a mobile game, but this is a game that is quality and it’s not a game where you’ll have to pay 99 cents in order to move on to the game. Once you pay that $10 you are good to go.
