Nintendo Reportedly Working To Release Nintendo Switch With OLED Display Later This Year

Upon comparing Nintendo Switch to its competitors – Xbox & PlayStation – the current handheld console hybrid is a weak attempt of a system in contrast to its powerhouse counterparts. But when viewing the market and the performance on Nintendo’s latest machine, the device sits to be one of the most successful units in history for the industry. Regardless of that, chatter continues to surface suggesting Nintendo is working to make a more conventional Nintendo Switch to complement other hardware.

In the past, reports surfaced the Nintendo is planning to reveal a 4K-enabled model which will ship with a magnitude of industry-pushing releases like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel and Metroid Prime 4. Additionally, outlets like Bloomberg also push out reports which suggest that the plan is forming as Nintendo signals teams to begin support for greater resolution outputs as well.

Once again from Bloomberg, the publication most recently reports that Nintendo is planning to issue a new model with a seven-inch OLED screen which would be a greater foundation for the system over its current display. The screen is said to be cranked at 720p, but will be less straining on the battery and even calibrate to 4K when docked on a television. The report concludes indicating that the system is to hit store shelves later in July.

“The OLED panel will consume less battery, offer higher contrast and possibly faster response time when compared to the Switch’s current liquid-crystal display,” Yoshio Tamura, DSCC co-founder disclosed in the report that Bloomberg relayed. However, the claim is only tangible to some degree as Nintendo disrupted a previous claim issued prior to the recent news break.

As per an investor call Nintendo held earlier this year, Bloomberg tells that Nintendo is not preparing to release any new additional Nintendo Switch SKUs for this year. So while the outlet is carrying out a new story indicating a new device is arriving this summer, note that the website also said the latter as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
