Among the three platforms, Nintendo remains ahead of Xbox & PlayStation with the Nintendo Switch selling more than 140 million units as of May 2024. And looking ahead, new hardware is certainly on the horizon. Although there is no confidence on what exactly this new successor will be, it did confirm a proper reveal will take place before the fiscal year closes in 2025.
What’s more, the firm has already answered its creative plans for the new system. In that, Nintendo general manager Shinya Takashi explained a mix of legacy IP as well as new properties are planned to release for this next console. As for availability, the constraint concerns of COVID-era sales are not to be the case as production will be ramped up to meet demand and keep out of the hands from resellers.
From the same shareholders meeting, Nintendo does clarify that another concern is internal collaborations with leakers on the internet. As part of the ongoing string of leaks that took place in June and prior, it will establish more precautions as well as a new security management to prevent similar events from taking place.
“We have become aware of the specific issues pointed out through media reports and other sources. We work with specialist companies to diagnose information security and take various other measures. The company has introduced information security management as part of its internal information security system, and is also working on continuous education for employees,” @NStyles transcribed from the meeting.
Leading to the announcement of its next SKU, Nintendo will slim down on its presence in the public. At least, it is not attending select shows. One of the biggest events is Gamescom which the firm confirmed to be absent for 2024. You can read the full report by heading here.
