Turning a few pages back on the calendar to the beginning of this summer, developer Toys for Bob alongside publisher Activision officially unveiled the fourth entry for the Crash Bandicoot franchise. Playing on the long-awaited joke, It’s About Time offers a completely new storyline for the series while still remaining true to the innovative gameplay elements the initial trilogy slated during its conception two decades before.
However, following the announcement back in June, the parties involved failed to share if a Nintendo Switch version is on the way for the October-slated project. While the previous N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled both released on the Nintendo eShop, the same currently cannot be said for the latest project underway.
However, perhaps Toys for Bob is planning to share that news at a later time. That possibility was gathered from Twitter user @SunwerPrower who dissected the source code of the game’s website – learning that the domain is hiding an imbedded line referencing the port.
Taken from the images provided, the poster dug through the listed platforms for the digital version of the game’s website which only reads Xbox One & PlayStation 4 on the surface. But, underneath in the coding of the website reveals a prompt for Nintendo Switch is already there; just not illustrated for users to access directly.
Gathered from the finding, it is safe to presume there will be a Nintendo Switch version later on. But looking at how little time until the game arrives, it is not certain the port will be available when it hits Xbox and PlayStation. To predict a 2020 release might also be treacherous to take as fact, so expect new details sometime in the following year.
Following the announcement for It’s About Time, users quickly picked up wind that the coming platformer would feature microtransactions to purchase in-game items. However, toys for Bob quickly denounced the claim to not be accurate. You can read the full report by heading here.
