While 2020 was initially expected to be a shoe in for Grasshopper Manufacture’s No More Heroes III, the aimed release window eventually resulted in being an overambitious pursuit for the Japanese developer. In that, studio lead Goichi “Suda51” Suda made a statement on Twitter unveiling a 2021 delay for the title. “The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have unfortunately proven to be a real body blow to our schedule, causing unforeseen delays in development,” he wrote at the time.

And given the circumstance for additional time being required to properly ship the title in the coming months, the longer wait only drew more impatience for fans since little gameplay has been presented on the project. Thankfully, Grasshopper Manufacture shipped both No More Heroes & No More Heroes II: Desperate Struggle back in November.

Now on Wednesday during the long-awaited Nintendo Direct, No More Heroes III earns some screen time with a new trailer – revealing a new release date set for this August. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“Our hero, Travis Touchdown, must make it to the top of the Galactic Superhero Rankings in order to stop the evil Prince FU and his ten alien assassins from taking over the Earth,” reads the game’s synopsis on the Nintendo eShop. “To enter into each subsequent ranked battle, you’ll need to pay a pretty steep fee. Travis must take on various missions around town to make the money he needs to fight.

Outside of the mainline No More Heroes series, Travis Touchdown has also made his inaugural appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While not as many anticipated to see him, the deadly assassin is featured via a Mii Fighter costume which wshared the stage during Minecraft Steve’s unveiling.
