It looks that the previously teased images from Treyarch last month kept true to its word when the implication that Zombies will be the main focus for the coming event planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The two images posted showcases both Moon and Nuketown to debut someway in the then-approaching content drop for the latest installment for the series, and now we have a full look at what Treyarch has been keeping a secret.
The new event titled ‘Operation Apocalypse Z’ drags Black Ops 4 through the trenches of the Zombies series and introduces a handful of new modes, items, and characters between the three segments that makes the current Call of Duty title. Kicking off with multiplayer, the online for Black ops 4 receives three new maps: Zombies map Eisendrache-inspired Der Schatten, Black Ops Havana makes a return with a rework, and Louisiana-set Remnant.
Jungle Flooded also debuts with the new event which redesigns the original Black Ops map from what fans are familiar with. An arsenal of new weapons as well will be coming to multiplayer for players to change up their current loadout. Treyarch even introduced the minigun-wielding robot Reaper as the newest Specialist with the character returning from Black Ops 3.
As for Blackout, the mentioned specialist and added weapons will also be available for the battle royale mode. The base Blackout map has been shifted to the more ravaged look following the event’s start with “The Haunting Fog” which hosts some familiar sceneries from the Black Ops series. The Alcatraz map also received more content with a nighttime setting and introduces the new Alcatraz Horde and Pandemic modes, which are expected to drop at a later time.
The Black Ops Pass that players can purchase to receive exclusive maps and weapons applies to Der Schatten, Remnant, and Havana. As well as the new Omega Alpha Zombies storyline that returns players to Nuketown once again with a more expansive experience as you fend of the undead.
Operation Apocalypse Z is only available to PlayStation 4, but other platforms are expected to receive the event at a later time.
