Just a few months back in June, Hori revealed to the world a beefier set of Joy Cons for the Nintendo Switch that would help action game-oriented fans with the announcement of the Switch Pad Pro. The two detachable controllers essentially from the looks of them appear to be given steroids compared to the standard issue Joy Cons we are more familiar with.
The upcoming Switch Pad Pro offers players a gamepad likeness to the traditional Joy Con controllers with handheld grips on both sides, larger shoulder button bumpers, and replacing the four-directional buttons on the left hand-held controller. Switch Pad Pro is also a Nintendo-licensed product, which correlates with the controllers Daemon X Machina theme as seen from the image.
Alike the Xbox Elite Controller, the Switch Pad Pro is also installed with a programmable rear-button paddle that can be assigned its own function at any time. However, despite the additional features to appeal more as an controller, Hori’s pro Joy Cons are stripped of its HD rumble, gyro sensors, and IR camera functionality.
You can order the Switch Pad Pro now via Amazon in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
Looking at the specialized pro Joy Cons, it would not be a surprise that Nintendo returns to Hori for another action-focused project in the future. Maybe Bayonetta 3?
Hori’s Switch Pad Pro is said to be shipped on September 30, 2019 in the U.K. Shipping in the U.S. is already said to be active, but expect a prolonged wait as the listing might be listed as out of stock.
