Although Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are a beloved franchise spanning across decades of fans indulging in the universe, the series has faced a brief shortcoming in recent years. It was not until 2022 that the property reappeared with two major releases. One being Konami’s own Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection which shipped in 2022.
Not to mention Dotemu & Tribute Games’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge which also arrived last year as well. And with the upcoming Paramount picture Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, an animated film produced by Seth Rogen, now is a good time to be a fan of the series. And this trend is to only climb higher with a new reveal from Paramount.
When speaking to Polygon, Paramount Publishing senior vice president Doug Rosen shared Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is being adapted into a AAA action RPG. The project is said to be years away from release, but is confirmed be be pursued with no settled confirmation on the game. IDW Publishing released the graphic novel back in 2020 with co-creators Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird on an idea first conceived back in the 1980s.
“Who is the Last Ronin? In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost. From legendary TMNT co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, get ready for the final story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles three decades in the making!” the description reads from the IDW Publishing listing.
“What terrible events destroyed his family and left New York a crumbling, post-apocalyptic nightmare? All will be revealed in this climactic Turtle tale that sees longtime friends becoming enemies and new allies emerging in the most unexpected places. Can the surviving Turtle triumph?”
