Paramount Shares Plans For Two More Sonic The Hedgehog Projects Including Third Movie And Spin-Off Knuckles TV Show

As history has foretold, many video game-adapted film has continued to be a disastrous attempt for Hollywood to tackle for roughly three decades. While these productions receive insane budgets to execute beloved IPs in a new medium, motion picture has yet to discover the correct formula in translating an interactive experience into a two-hour viewing. Currently, Sonic the Hedgehog stands to be the most successful in doing this.

Although the 2020 movie did not shatter expectations with nominees for best picture that year, it did disrupt the box office. More notably, it outperformed the year prior’s Detective Pikachu atop of the rise in concerns for COVID-19 at the time. Swiftly after it was reported that actor James Marsden agreed to a multi-film deal with Paramount to create a franchise.

With evidence following, we finally received our first full look at Sonic the Hedgehog 2 during The Game Awards back in December. However, Paramount this week told that it plans to commit for a third film already alongside a spin-off show starring Knuckles the Echidna exclusively on Paramount+.

Details are still sparse on both projects, but the pair are promised to be delivered later in the coming future with Idris Elba reprising his role when the show drops in 2023. Currently, Paramount+ already features Sonic the Hedgehog content with the titular animated show ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ alongside ‘Sonic Underground’.

At the same time, Paramount went on to confirm that the Halo Television Series is to be renewed for a second season already. Season 1 is set to air on the streaming platform next month on March 24th. You can read the full report by heading here.
