About a week ago I gave my thoughts on PaRappa the Rapper Remastered, and today I’m back to check out the sequel. While the remaster wasn’t what I expected, thankfully this #PS2PS4 darling is here to save us all!
PaRappa, having won a 100-year supply of instant noodles, grew tired of eating them every day. So, after being so sick of noodles, he complained to his crush Sunny Funny about not wanting them, and she calls him a baby. Shocked by this, PJ Berri and PaRappa go eat at Beard Burger. All of a sudden, everything turns to noodles and PaRappa is now on a journey to turn everything back.

This is about a 90 minute adventure. There are eight levels in total, so don’t expect to be playing this for very long, unless you plan on Platinum-ing the game (more on that below).

The delay that was present in PaRappa the Rapper Remastered is gone. We’re back to Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle, L1, and R1. There’s a catch though – now there’s a second row of actions instead of just one, so now everything is so crammed, making it much harder than the previous game. At the same time, however, it’s incredibly fun.
Rapping along to these classics never felt so good. The audio quality is leaps ahead of the PaRappa the Rapper Remaster. Voices are tolerable and the music just sounds so much cleaner and more clear. Now this is a #PS2PS4 port, so the visuals aren’t here to impress anyone. The PaRappa Remaster looks like night and day compared to this, but the upscaled visuals are nice and don’t look too bad. I was actually surprised how much graphical detail there was given that this is a PS2 game.
With this title coming from the rather short list of #PS2PS4 titles, it comes with a lot of extra stuff – one of them being trophies. PaRappa 2 features 15 trophies; 1 Gold, 1 Silver, and 13 Bronze. Each of them are very easy to achieve and they give a rewarding feeling when you see them pop.
After beating the game, you’ll get a Blue beanie. After beating it a second time, you’ll acquire a Pink one, finally you’ll get the Yellow one after beating it a third time. This is required to achieve the Platinum trophy, and it’s likely going to be a pain.
