Penny Arcade Reveals 2021 Scheduling For Next Year’s PAX Conventions, Starting In Early June

To virtually the entirety of the world’s population, the COVID-era epidemic has not been a pleasant time. With million infected alongside the deaths of those that came into contact with the virus, the world has been in a vice grip of the novel coronavirus. Not only that as millions are urged to remain home and inside to contain the spread, plenty of public gatherings and events also faced cancellations.

But in response to the closure of annual gatherings, the organizers responsible looked to digital alternatives. For Penny Arcade following the shelving of 2020’s PAX West in Seattle, Washington, the group then orchestrated PAX Online which allowed free admission to those attending online from home. But looking ahead into 2021, Penny Arcade is adamant to opening its doors to returning attendees next year.

Given that the circumstance is projected to simmer down by the coming summer as vaccines are set to be administered starting this month, Penny Arcade reveals its scheduling for 2021 to commence in early June with PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts. June 3 – 6 for PAX East, September 3 – 6 for PAX West, and December 10 – 12 for PAX Unplugged. PAX Aus is still being determined while PAX South is shelved until 2022.

“We’re announcing our dates now to help partners plan for the upcoming year on how they might attend as well as provide a chance to start a conversation about how to bring attendees, panelists, exhibitors, and our broader community together with these events that are 7 months away,” the letterhead reads. “Safety if always our highest priority, and we want to put these shows on for you and in a way the still feels like PAX, but these things require runway.”

The organizer adds, “whatever for PAX East, West, and Unplugged takes in 2021, please know that we are dedicate to bringing you all the community, content, and competition we’ve become known for, while continuing to create space for new, up-and-coming, and marginalized voices in gaming.”
