People Can Fly Reveals New AAA ‘Project Maverick’ Title In Development With New Microsoft Collaboration

Developer People Can Fly just riding off of the momentum that was Outriders is currently busy with a few new projects. Previously, it confirmed a new AAA, next-generation title is in the works internally. Additionally, People Can Fly more recently shared a virtual reality port for Bulletstorm is also in development for Meta Quest as well. Now it appears the team is to work on a new project with Microsoft.

According to a new press release from the game studio this week, the firm has signed a new agreement on a new title dubbed ‘Project Maverick’ for the Polish team. “The development of the Game by the Company will be performed under the work for hire model, based on the intellectual property rights owned by the Publisher and will be entirely financed by the Publisher when advancing by the Company of the development works under the milestones,” the document shares.

“The Management Board of PCF Group S.A. with its registered office in Warsaw hereby informs that on 13 June 2023 the Company and Microsoft Corporation, with its principal place of business in Redmond, Washington, USA, have entered into a Development and Publishing Agreement regarding the development and delivery by the Company to the Publisher of the video game from the AAA segment under the code name Project Maverick pursuant to the Product Appendix to the Agreement indicating the agreed timetable, including the milestones.”

In terms of other project codenames that manifested recently, three internal aliases were revealed at the recent Xbox Games Showcase. In that, Project Black was shared to be Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight; Project Cobalt is InXile Entertainment’s Clockwork Revolution; Project Belfry revealed to be Towerborne by Banner Saga team Stoic.

Pertaining to People Can Fly, the team does have a history with Microsoft. It previously shipped spin-off prequel Gears of War: Judgment for the Xbox 360. Perhaps a new Gears title is now underway.
