While Atlus releases its work at a whim many fans believe, it was not long before the promised trilogy for Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 royal all launched on major platforms. Additionally, there are rumors Persona 3 is being remade. But this was further corroborated when leaked footage turned up online more recently.

Ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase, the game leaked once more confirming launch for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC. Even more, the actual presentation verified this and the early 2024 launch for the game as well. Not to mention the separate Persona 5 Tactica which was announced. The duo of Persona titles will launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Now with a concrete understanding for the game’s arrival, Atlus does shed some disappointing news. In an interview with IGN, the game studio tells Persona 3 Reload is a straight remake of the original game. This means following iterations like ‘FES’ and ‘Portable’ inspired content will not be in the new release.

So first I’d like to mention that since the basic concept of the Persona 3 remake was to remake the Persona 3, we don’t have the FES and Portable contents included. We wanted to really genuinely work on recreating the Persona 3 experience. So we can’t really go into the details at this point yet, but we have remade basically everything from scratch as for Persona 3 the original version.

“So we have newly recorded voices, we have new scenes and events. We also have both new and arranged music. We’ll be kind of releasing that information, following everything. So please look forward to that,” Niitsuma goes on to explain. Content absent includes the female character option alongside a bevy of differences featured in the FES & Portable versions.

Elsewhere, Atlus also revealed work on another game, Metaphor: ReFantazio. While still harboring many of the aesthetic design that Atlus is signature for, this will be the first ever full-scale RPG for the Japanese studio. You can read the full report by heading here.
